Treatment Refusal Letters
We hope you don't need them but... these letters, approved by our Clinical Advisory Panel, are to present to medical staff if you are refused your time-critical steroid medication whilst an inpatient, or an emergency injection when needed to prevent or treat adrenal crisis.
Due to it's rarity, there remains a lack of awareness of Addison's and adrenal insufficiency in some healthcare professionals. The aim of these letters is not to aggravate health care professionals who are there to help support you, but rather to emphasise the critical nature of the interventions required, and to signpost them to the NICE guidelines on the Identification and Management of Adrenal Insufficiency.
