A winning formula

From your feedback to our events, we have got a good understanding of what you find helpful, and why you want to come along.  We don't want to fix what isn't broken, so we run a tried and tested program at our events:

  • A medical presentation on a topic of interest to the adrenal insufficiency community, that changes every time.
  • A Q&A with a panel of endocrine healthcare professionals
  • Breakout groups on a topic you choose
  • Plenty of time for mingling with tea/coffee and pastries
  • An opportunity to talk to charity staff and volunteers
  • Our ADSHG pop up shop

Where possible, we also include an optional injection training session. (dependent on venue).

Q&A Expert Panel

Having the opportunity to ask questions and clarify your understanding of your condition with experts in the endocrinology world is one of the major draws of attending a Member Get-Together.  Routinely voted 2nd or 3rd in the list of favourite things about an event (after the presentations and meeting others who understand), we are grateful to the healthcare professionals who volunteer their time and share their expertise with us.

As someone who is relatively newly diagnosed the day was so informative and empowering. It was also great to be able to talk to others who have the condition and understand what it's like. The whole day was well organised and the work the charity do to support its members is truly amazing - thank you so much!"

I was worried that the event would be focused on positive thinking and how you can still do everything, but I only heard JFK mentioned once, and no one said we can still run marathons!  I was relieved as Addison's can make everyday life hard, and it's good to have that acknowledged.
Having the shop was so useful, and having drinks on arrival was much appreciated.

Birmingham

I thought it was very well run and organised. You packed lots into a very short space of time. There was a real buzz in the room. The biggest ‘vibe’ being with other people with Addison's disease. People just kept saying ‘I’ve never met anyone with Addison's disease before!’ I left on a real high with the added reminder how rare this disease is and how much you need the support of others. Thanks to all those involved in organising and I’m looking forward to next year!"
