Why was Tapiie created?
Tapiie was created from personal experience. My daughter has adrenal insufficiency as part of panhypopituitarism, where fast access to accurate medical information can be critical in an emergency. I realised how easily vital details, such as the need for urgent steroid treatment, could be missed if she was unable to communicate. This led to creating a simple, reliable solution that makes essential information instantly accessible when it matters most.

Profiles can be accessed by tapping with a smartphone or scanning a QR code. No app or login required, ensuring anyone nearby can retrieve information quickly.
- Medical Information Storage: users can securely store key details such as conditions, allergies, medications and emergency instructions in a structured profile.
- ICE (In Case of Emergency) contacts: emergency contacts can be notified when a profile is accessed, helping families and carers stay informed in real time.
- Emergency alerts (SMS & Email): optional alerts notify contacts when the profile is viewed, including time and approximate location where available.
- Location Sharing (where supported): if permitted by the device accessing the profile, location data can be shared to assist responders and contacts.

How does it work?
Tapiie is designed to be simple both to set up and use in real world situations. After purchasing a Tapiie product, the user creates a secure online profile where they enter their medical details, including conditions, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts. This profile is then linked to the unique NFC chip or QR code on their Tapiie device.
In an emergency, a bystander or responder simply taps the device with a smartphone or scans the QR code. This instantly opens the user’s profile in a web browser without requiring an app or login. Key medical information is clearly displayed, along with any custom emergency instructions, such as guidance for managing an adrenal crisis.
If enabled, the system sends alerts to nominated contacts, notifying them that the profile has been accessed. This may include time and location information depending on device permissions.
Day to day, users can log in to update their profile at any time, ensuring information remains accurate and up to date.
Technical Requirements
Tapiie is designed to work with the vast majority of modern smartphones without requiring additional software.
- Supported Devices: Works with iOS and Android smartphones. NFC functionality is supported on most modern devices, while QR codes provide a universal fallback.
- Operating System Requirements: Any device capable of opening a web browser can access the profile via QR code. NFC functionality depends on the device hardware and settings.
- Internet Connectivity: An internet connection is required to load the user’s medical profile.
- Hardware Dependencies: Tapiie devices include an embedded NFC chip and printed QR code. No batteries or charging are required.
- Global Use: The system is designed for worldwide use, although functionality such as location sharing depends on local device permissions and network availability.
